Dieses Jahr wieder da – Das UK-Label Big Scary Monsters verschenkt (s)einen Label-Sampler

Weil Traditionen etwas Schönes sind – und freilich auch irgendwann, irgendwie verpflichten -, verschenkt das britische Indie-Label Big Scary Monsters auch in diesem Jahr – wie bereits 2019 und in den Jahren zuvor (2020 wurde wohl eine Pause eingelegt) – (s)einen satte 22 Auszüge aus dem diesjährigen Veröffentlichungskatalog starken Label-Sampler mit einer bunten Auswahl querbeet durch sein aktuelles Künstlerangebot und Release-Oeuvre irgendwo zwischen Indie- und Punkrock, Emo, Post-Hardcore oder Mathrock.

Mit dabei sind 2021 Bands und Künstler wie We Were Promised Jetpacks, Orchards, American Football, Proper., Church Girls, Weakened Friends, Laura Jane Grace oder Lakes (also auch der ein oder andere Name, von dem in diesem Jahr auf ANEWFRIEND zu lesen war). Wohl bekomm’s!

Tradition, Tradition! – Das UK-Label Big Scary Monsters verschenkt (s)einen Label-Sampler

Weil Traditionen etwas Schönes sind – und freilich auch irgendwann, irgendwie verpflichten -, verschenkt das britische Indie-Label Big Scary Monsters auch in diesem Jahr – wie bereits 2018 und in den Jahren zuvor – (s)einen satte 23 Auszüge aus dem diesjährigen Veröffentlichungskatalog starken Label-Sampler mit einer bunten Auswahl querbeet durch sein aktuelles Künstlerangebot und Release-Oeuvre irgendwo zwischen Indie- und Punkrock, Emo, Post-Hardcore oder Mathrock.

Song des Tages: Orchards – „Peggy“

Der Name „Peggy“ ruft durchaus lebhafte Erinnerungen an meine DDR-Kindheit hervor.

Diese wiederum dürften Orchards wohl kaum haben. Denn zum einen ist das britische Quartett wohl ein paar Lenze jünger als der Schreiberling ebenjener Zeilen, zum anderen stammen Frontfrau Lucy Evers und ihre Jungs (Sam Rushton an der Gitarre, Dan Fane am Bass und Will Lee-Lewis am Schlagzeug) aus der englischen Küstenstadt Brighton. Trotzdem ist deren „Peggy“ ein feines, gut vierminütiges Stuck fluffig-tanzbarer Math-Pop, der zwar bereits 2016 erschien, nichtsdestotrotz auch zwei Jahre – und einige mehr via Bandcamp ins weltweite Netz gestreute Singles später – noch auf der Höhe des indie-affinen Hipster-Zeitgeistes umher schwirrt (und nur eine gefühlte Hüpfburg neben Bands wie Minus The Bear hoppelt). Quasi also die wohl bisher tanzwütigste „Peggy“ des 21. Jahrhunderts….

Und da Orchards den ersten Langspieler jedoch bislang schuldig geblieben sind (und für Juli zunächst die „Losers/Lovers EP“ angekündigt haben), darf man weiterhin gespannt sein…
