Song des Tages #2: Karen O – „Bullet With Butterfly Wings“

Nicht erst seit ihren Beiträgen zu Spike Jonzes Kinderbuchverfilmung „Wo die wilden Kerle wohnen“ (im Original: „Where The Wild Things Are„) weiß man: Karen O kann Soundtracks.

Nun hat sich die umtriebige Yeah Yeah Yeahs-Frontfrau, die erst vor wenigen Tagen ein gemeinsames Album mit Danger Mouse veröffentlicht hat, den Smashing Pumpkins-Smasher „Bullet With Butterfly Wings“ vorgenommen. Aus dem ebenso wuchtigen wie mitreißenden Alternative-Rock-Song, seinerzeit (meint: anno 1995) auf dem Pumpkins-Meilenstein „Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness“ erschienen, macht Karen O eine düstere Industrial-Version, welche Teil des Soundtracks der im März gestarteten Amazon-Prime-Serie „Hanna“ ist (und bereits im dazugehörigen Trailer zu hören war).

Und siehe da: selbst die sonst so kritischen Smashing Pumpkins um Chef-Kürbis Billy Corgan nannten Os Version unlängst „ein wunderschönes Cover“…

„Tausend Jahre sind ein Tag…“ – ANEWFRIENDs Top 10 der Jahreszahl-Songs

Kürzlich kam mir beim Hören von Frank Turners neustem Album „Be More Kind“ (welches kein schlechtes, jedoch bei weitem nicht sein bestes ist) ein spontaner Gedanke: Wie wäre es mit einer Top 10 der – spontan, freilich! – persönlich liebsten und tollstbesten Songs mit einer Jahreszahl im Titel?

Gedacht? Getan! Natürlich (ich schrob „spontan“, Ladies und Gentlemänner!) ohne Gewähr auf Vollständigkeit, jedoch feinstsäuberlich-deutsch chronologisch geordnet: hier ist meine eigene Liste…
