Song des Tages: Clairo – „Sofia“

Es scheint ja vor allem unter den Musikerinnen-Jungspündinnen ein regelrechter Trend zu sein, ihre Songs mit einer ganzen Heerschar von potentiellen Meta-Ebenen geradezu zu überfrachten. Und obwohl das, was junge, talentierte Künstlerinnen von Lana Del Rey über Lorde bis hin zur aktuell tatsächlich überall über jeglichen grünen Klee gehyptlobten Billie Eilish (die – mal ganz so nebenbei – ANEWFRIEND bereits im Januar 2018 auf dem Schirm hatte) recht verlässlich an großer Pop-Kunst abliefern, tatsächlich fein anzuhören ist, fragt man sich doch: Geht’s auch anders? Eine Antwort liefert Clairo…

Denn die Songs der Newcomerin aus dem US-amerikanischen Carlisle, Massachusetts liefern ihrerseits so etwas wie den minimalistisch gehaltenen Gegenentwurf zum groß Gedachten von Del Rey und Co: stylisch verhuschte Popsongs für den Augenblick. Klar mag Claire Cottrill, wie die 20-Jährige abseits der Hype-anfälligen Streaming-Portale heißt, das Glück gehabt haben, aus wohlhabendem Hause zu stammen (welches obendrein noch familiäre Beziehungen zu ihrem aktuellen Plattenlabel pflegt) und 2017 mit der Lo-Fi gehaltenen Bedroom-Pop-Nummer „Pretty Girl“ so etwas wie einen ersten Mini-Youtube-Hit mit bis heute immerhin 36 Millionen Aufrufen gelandet zu haben. Nichtsdestotrotz sind Songs wie „Sofia“, welcher sich auf Clairos im August erscheinendem Debüt-Album „Immunity“ (auf diesem hatte hörbar Ex-Vampire-Weekend-Multiinstrumentalist Rostam seine Produzentenfinger im Spiel) wiederfinden wird, durchaus feiner, in den Moment hinein musizierender Indie-Pop, der lustvoll juvenile Tentakel in verschiedenste Richtungen schlägt – mal gen Electro Pop, mal gen Dream Pop, mal gen Hipster-Retro-Garage Rock der Geschmacksrichtung The Strokes. Keine große Sache eigentlich, aber auch alles andere als störend. Und so unverbraucht daher tänzelnder Indie-Pop darf im Jahr 2019 ja eh (fast) alles…
