Song des Tages: Phoebe Bridgers – „You Missed My Heart“

Grenzt es bereits an Wahnsinn, sich ein Stück aus dem von Veröffentlichungsjahr zu Veröffentlichungsjahr ausschweifender werdenden Songfundus von Mark Kozelek zu greifen und dieses dann einer Eigeninterpretation zu unterziehen? Hm…

Anno 2018 – und im Hinblick auf den zwar stetig anwachsenden, jedoch auch immer gewöhnungsbedürftiger werdenden kreativen Output des 51-jährigen nimmermüden Ex-Frontmanns der Red House Painters – würde ich spontan antworten: Ja klar, da dürfte ein Scheitern in Ehren vorprogrammiert sein! Allerdings hat sich Phoebe Bridgers mit „You Missed My Heart“ ein Stück vom 2013 erschienenen Album „Perils From The Sea„, welches gemeinsam mit The Album Leaf-Kopf Jimmy LaValle entstand, gegriffen – und tut gut daran, eines der zwar simpler gestrickten, aber auch besten und berührendsten (jüngeren) Stücke aus Kozeleks Feder zu wählen.

Denn so viel verändert die aus Los Angeles stammende Indie-Musikerin, welche im vergangenen Jahr auch auf ANEWFRIEND bereits Erwähnung fand, gar nicht für ihre Version der Konzelek/LaValle-Coproduktion, welche den Abschluss ihres 2017 erschienenen Debütalbums „Stranger In The Alps“ bildet. Bridgers kappt dem Stück lediglich den elektronischen Unterbau und reduziert es auf sein emotionales Grundgerüst, begleitet auf den weißen und schwarzen Tasten. Oder eben, wie man bei der unten stehenden Daytrotter Session erleben kann, auf etwas E-Gitarren-Begleitung. In jedem Fall gilt: der Song bleibt in seiner fast schon lakonischen Ehrlichkeit großartig – ob nun von Mark Kozelek und Jimmy LaValle, oder eben von Phoebe Bridgers interpretiert…
